sunbeam: This is a brilliant programme on so many levels!
It's facinating enough just to have access to ways of life we'd normally have no way of seeing but what makes it even more satisfying is being privy to the interaction between Bruce and the tribes as they meet and get to know each other and become friends though shared experiences. It is a process of human connection at it most pure, unencumbered by previous assumptions. It is incredibly interesting to watch and often funny and moving too.

sunbeam: Although he sometimes has an interpreter often Bruce doesn't even speak the language as the dialects are so obscure and so communicates largely using eye contact, gestures and body language.
His success in gaining their trust is due to his incredible good natured humility and his willingness to try anything. The reciprical generousity and humour of the people he lives with is just such a joy to watch.
What do you know about this TV programme that others may not?
sunbeam: As he really does only eat the food of the tribes he lives with and drinks the untreated water he says on his website (see above) that to keep his intestinal flora and fauna topped up he tries to include old, off or dirty food that's been on the floor in his diet ,before he goes on a trip. He says it maintains the high level of parasites and bacteria needed to help him fight off any illnesses. Now that's dedication!
He is currently writing his autobiography...can't wait!
