Andy: Developing a technique called "Join up" where the trainer and the horse reach a mutual understanding and respect for each other. After Join Up the trainer is able to teach and train a horse without the use of any violence or aggression to the animal.
Andy: I saw Monty deliver a live demonstration for about 4 hours and was completely amazed by his ability to totally understand and recognise the minute and subtle changes in the horse's behaviour and attitude. Monty seemed to be able to read the animal so precisely, he could predict what the animal would and why. Among other things he helped a young horse over come its fear of horse boxes. At the start he animal wouldn't even approach the vehicle. After half an hour he had the horse loading and unloading himself, without a lead or any other intervention. It was quite simply jaw dropping.
What do you know about this person that others may not?
Andy: Known as the 'Man who listens to horses', his life inspired the movie 'The Horse Whisperer' where Monty is played by Robert Redford. But the real interesting thing is that Monty's insight into behaviour has helped him raise foster children from troubled backgrounds, and develop; corporate management team by showing them how to read and use instinctive behaviour modification.
